Students Corner:

During Saturday School OLBF Youth receive mentoring, tutoring, Money Mgmt., Art lessons, and life & College prep. Also, during Christmas, the high school students assisted with handing out toys to the community. The foundation continues to accept applications to help bring our Youth to academic grade level and beyond. Students who matriculate through the programs receive a great opportunity to attend and flourish in College, and/or the Work Force to be productive citizens in the communities they live in.

The holiday season is a time of giving and sharing!

It’s also a time to think about those in need and how we can help them have a better holiday season. On Christmas day Ms. Brown and Xavier provided hot meals to unhoused individuals located on the corridor of International Blvd in the East Oakland community. Glenn, Lea, Xavier, Parker, and Amaryllyss high school students of the foundation spearheaded the drive to collect the warm blankets, and socks to distribute. The high school students were instrumental in passing out over 400 gifts to community families. They also volunteered during their winter vacation helping to package and pass out food with a local church.

Through the efforts of the OLBF and our Students, many families were able to receive a bag of food, and gifts for their children, and the unhoused received a hot meal. By providing these services, we made sure that everyone had the chance to experience the joys of the holidays. We thank the youth and Ms. Brown for an excellent Christmas 2022 of caring and sharing.
